Increase Page Rank For Your Blog or Website

If you have a blog or website that you are using to sell a product of distribute information publicly, then you understand how important it is for your Web pages to have a high page rank. When you earn a ranking that puts your page in the top 10 for its category, people immediately find your articles in the searches they do using Web browsers. Although tricks abound for increasing page rank, the best sites do so by putting quality content first.
  1. Write original articles or blog posts. Search engines recognize duplicate content and automatically lower the page ranking for it, so make sure your articles are not copies of other articles. Continue to update your blog with fresh and original content so that the search engines regularly index your blog or website.
  2. Get backlinks for your pages. Backlinks are made when another site links to your blog or website, leading viewers to read your content. When a search engine identifies these links, it raises the page ranking of your blog or website because it recognizes that your articles are important enough that other people are linking to them. The higher the page rank of the site linking to yours, the more credit you get.
Adding your URL to directories can increase your number of backlinks; check whether the directory you've chosen requires you to pay to join the listing and the benefits of doing so over using a free blog directory out there that you don't need to pay. Another way to increase page rank through backlinks is to bookmark your articles with social bookmarking sites. When you bookmark your articles on such a site, you automatically get a link back to the article on your blog or website.
  3. Take your original articles, rewrite them and then submit them to article directories, with a link back to your blog. If people looking for free blog or website content use your articles, they are obligated to include the link back to your site. This gives you more backlinks, as well as increasing traffic to your blog or website.
  4. Create a sitemap. Besides boosting your Web traffic, sitemaps help your followers or people who find your site through a search engine by giving them a one-look view of your site. The easiest way to do this is to get a plugin that includes a sitemap from your blog's hosting service.
